This blog is for the Knight Readers. As a team, we must create a summary of each book on the WIRC list. Character descriptions can be included as replies to the original summary blog. These blog posts should help us as a team to remember what we have read throughout the year. Please remember that along with the blog posts, you must also create 10 questions on your book to use for our mock competition at the beginning of May. Questions do not need to be posted to the blog. Happy reading!

Lia Marrigan Overbrook: The main character, a senior in high school who has a lot of issues, including being anorexic. She is being haunted by her dead BFF but she thinks she is just in her head. She is always getting mad at her parents for telling her to eat.
ReplyDeleteCassandra Jane Parrish: Lia's former best friend, bulimic, who was found dead in a motel room.
Jennifer: Lia's concerned step mother.
Emma: Lia's younger step sister, probably the person Lia feels closest to. She is thoughtful and sweet.
Lia: The main character that is struggling to stay skinny no matter what
Dr. Nancy Parker: Lia's therapist.
Nanna Marrigan: Lia's maternal grandmother.
Elijah: A boy that Lia meets who seems to be the only one to help her. Works at a motel.
Ms. Rostoff: The school counselor.
Mira: One of Cassie's theater friends.
Cassie: Lia's ex-best friend who is bulimic.
David: Lia's father.
Dr. Chloe Marrigan: Lia's mother. Mostly, Lia avoids her and believes she doesn't care. Doesn't call her "mom" anymore.
Mr. Parrish: Cassie's dad
Melissa: A nurse
Mrs. Parrish: Cassie's Mom
Emma- Emma symbolizes innocence, to blind to see the harsh cruel world for what it really is. Unable to see the truth.
ReplyDeleteJennifer- She symbolizes how society pretends to care. Their help is meaningless and does it to make everything perfect and balanced.
Dr. Chloe Marrigan- She symbolizes how everyone wants to push their problems under the rug. Keeping our minds busy so we don't have to face the truth.
David Overbrook (Lia's father)- He symbolizes how we as society know there is a problem but deny it all. Its not really there, nothing is wrong.
Elijah- Symbolizes the love we want and think we deserve but not the love we need.
Lia- Lia symbolizes the harsh truth society does to people. Always putting thoughts of "perfection" into our head and not meeting the standards forces us to try to make ourselves become perfect even if it means harming ourselves and people around us.
Cassie- She symbolizes the guilt society feels after something tragic. One person blaming another, another person blaming themselves.
Interesting analysis, Gabby! Excellent additional post. ~Ms. K
